Welcome to planDisney, Gary.
Once your loved ones catch their first glimpse of Cinderella Castle in all its EARidescent majesty, I'm sure all your hard work in planning for your family's upcoming Walt Disney World trip will be more than worth it. With the 50th Anniversary Celebration well underway, you're coming at a great time. Make sure you check out the Beacons of Magic on display throughout all four of the Theme Parks. I was captivated by Spaceship Earth in particular. Also, if you're in the mood for a photo challenge, see how many of the Fab 50 Characters you can find.
MagicBands are a handy and carefree way to experience Walt Disney World. They enable you to conveniently unlock your Disney Resort room door, quickly enter Theme Parks and Water Parks (with valid admission, of course!), easily connect your Disney PhotoPass to your account, and even purchase delicious food and magical merchandise.
I'm sorry that you're not finding the variety of options that you were expecting through your My Disney Experience account. Gary, the selections of MagicBands on offer are always changing. Therefore, you might want to keep checking to see if anything new becomes available. If you order through your My Disney Experience account, then one of the benefits of staying on property is that you get a discount on MagicBands. They are also automatically linked to your account if you order them this way.
Even so, if you'd like a greater variety of MagicBands to choose from, you can have a browse through ShopDisney. The disadvantage of this is that you won't be able to get a discount by virtue of staying on property. You will also have to link your new MagicBands to your account once they arrive.
Another option is to wait until you arrive at Walt Disney World. There will be a plethora of MagicBands available in your Resort, at the Theme Parks, and at Disney Springs. Again, if you purchase MagicBands once you arrive, you won't get a discount. You'll also have to link your new MagicBands to your account. To do that, once you've purchased your MagicBand(s), open your My Disney Experience account, click on "My MagicBands and Cards" and scroll down to the bottom of the page. There should be a "Link" button under the "Link a MagicBand" section. And the rest is fairly straightforward.
I hope that gives you some options to move forward with, Gary. It won't be long until you arrive at the place where laughter is timeless, imagination has no age, and dreams are forever.
In the words of Woody, "So long, partner."
