Hi, I am bringing my daughters to disney world in January for my daughters 16th birthday. My daughter has Williams Syndrome. And I am concerned about her handling all of the crowds and lines. Is there any suggestions that might help? thank you!!!

    Hi Selha ~

Celebrating a 16th birthday at Disney World is a fabulous idea! Be sure to get a "Happy Birthday" button for her at any Guest Relations location. You never know what pixie dust will come her way.

From your previous questions, it looks like you are taking a daughter to Disney for a Make*A*Wish trip. If this is the trip you are planning, Make*A*Wish will be able to assist you with what you will need to expedite her wait in lines to keep it to a minimum. If this is not your Make*A*Wish trip, then I would suggest obtaining a Disability Access Service Card (DAS) for your daughter by going to Guest Relations at any of the theme parks. A Cast Member will ask you some questions so they can best accommodate her specific needs. You will not be required to present any type of medical documentation to obtain a DAS. Here is some additional information regarding the details of how the DAS works. I've also included a list of Frequently Asked Questions about the DAS.

If your daughter has any personal items that will help her in lines, bring them if possible (favorite electronic toy, books - you know what works best for her). If noise sensitivity is an issue, bring head phones or ear phones to lessen the noise. Be sure to take frequent breaks.

Here are some tips for coping with crowd levels at Disney.

I am limited in space but please feel free to visit with any other questions. It is my pleasure to assist you!

Wishing you minnie magical memories :-) Allison V.
