We will be bringing our daughter for her first trip to Disney World from Sept 30-Oct 7. She will be 4 1/2. Is it worth the trouble to bring our umbrella stroller or big fold up stroller in case she gets tired? Would it be easier to just rent?

    Hi Rebecca,

First trips are extra magical!  Be sure to get a "first trip" button for your little princess at Guest Relations when you enter the parks.

There are tons of suggestions on the panel regarding strollers, so feel free to search for a variety of opinions.  My vote is to bring your own for a number of reasons.   First, is cost.   A single stroller will cost you $15 per day.   (If you get a length of stay rental, you'll save a few dollars).  Next, it's very convenient to have access to a stroller outside the parks, where strollers aren't available for rent.  (The airport, the Boardwalk at night, and your resort are prime examples of where a set of wheels will come in handy.)  Finally, the rentals don't come with too many bells and whistles (like a storage
basket or cup holders) that come in handy during a long day in the parks.

Regarding what make/model of stroller to bring, I'd say stick with what works for your daughter and you.  It's certainly convenient to have a lightweight stroller that can easily be folded and carried onto the buses, however, a reclining stroller with a cup holder and basket can be a big help for a long day at the parks.  If you are flying, I'd recommend "gate checking" your stroller.  This means your daughter can stay in it right until you board the plane.  As soon as you disembark, your stroller will be waiting for you in Orlando (at the gate, not at baggage claim).

Whatever set of wheels you pick, have a great trip!
