I am bringing my almost 3 year old to Disney for the first time in April 2014. I was wondering what were the best resorts to stay and parks to go to. Are there birthday lunch / dinners I can arrange?

Hi Amy!  How exciting to be planning a first visit to Walt Disney World for your child!  So many fun and exciting options are available to you!  As far as resorts go, the younger kids seem to really enjoy the Value Resorts for their larger than life theming, and fun, bright decorations!  My favourite of those is the newest - Disney's Art of Animation Resort.  You will find the most amazing themed rooms and family suites there - Cars, Finding Nemo, The Lion King and Little Mermaid!  Not to mention the Big Blue Pool - the largest on Disney Property that has some great water features for little ones.

Birthday lunches and dinners can happen at any of the restaurants at Walt Disney World.  Some that I would recommend are Chef Mickey's at Disney's Contemporary Resort and Crystal Palace at Magic Kingdom - both are really fun character meals that kids love!  The Rainforest Cafe at Downtown Disney is also a really fun place to celebrate a birthday.

Be sure to pick up a complimentary Happy Birthday celebration button for your child when you check in to your Walt Disney World Resort or at any of the four theme parks in Guest Relations.  He/she can wear it during your whole trip, and doing so often brings special greetings from Cast Members or even magical moments!

Amy, if you need some more ideas, write me back with more details on your child - whether it's a boy or girl and what their interests are - and I would be happy to help.  Thanks for your question and for visiting the Disney Parks Moms Panel.  Have a magical day!
