Hello Ashley! That is a great planning question! Picking the “just right” Disney home away from home is always an important part of planning! However, it takes on added importance when planning with a little Mouseketeer! I’m happy to offer some advice!
When we visited when our sons were little, my wife and I always tried to prioritize the convenience of travel between the Disney Parks and the resort hotel. Like you,
Magic Kingdom Park was the park we visited most often during our vacation. We also knew that we wanted to start our days early and then return to the resort for a nap and swim in the afternoon. So, for us, staying at a resort hotel in proximity to Magic Kingdom Park was most important to our planning.
One of the nice things about Magic Kingdom Park is that it is connected to the
Monorail! This makes travel between the park and resort hotels very convenient. The Monorail is linked to Disney’s Contemporary Resort, Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort, and
Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and Spa! You are also able to conveniently walk from the park to the Contemporary and the Grand Floridian (great for pushing the little ones in strollers to ease them into a nap). You can also walk to the Polynesian, but it will take longer than the walk to the other two resorts. Our top choice was (and still is) Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and Spa! The proximity, the pools, the convenient dining options, and picture perfect setting made this our preferred hotel when we visited with our little guys! We fell in love with it and continue to stay there!
Ashley, the resort hotels along the Monorail are considered deluxe resort hotels. For that reason we also tried to plan our visits around times when those resorts were discounted. Check the “
Special Offers” page of the Walt Disney World Resort website for money-saving deals!
