Hello, King Yu!
Thank you very much for your question! Packing for a cruise can be a lot of work, but I am happy to help.
I'm glad you are checking what can and cannot be brought onboard a Disney Cruise Line ship in advance, your research will hopefully keep you from running into any problems. Well done!
Appliances, Electrical Items, and Electronics are generally restricted onboard, which means most of them will be confiscated during the security screening.
Your hot water dispenser would not be allowed on the ship, but don't worry! You are welcome to get hot water from the complimentary beverage stations from the buffet restaurant or the pool deck. You can also use the complimentary
Room Service to order hot water to be delivered to your stateroom. Maybe you'll want to order a snack, too!
While walkie-talkies are usually allowed to be brought on the ship, they aren't the most reliable communication method since there is a lot of interference from all the metal in the ship's construction. Anyone with a mobile device in your family can use the
Disney Cruise Line Navigator App to communicate over the messaging feature! Staying in touch without a mobile device requires a little more creativity, but my friends Adrianna and Amy both have some amazing tips for staying in touch with kids on the ships.
Adrianna communicates directly with Cast Members in the youth clubs using the phones on the ship, and
Amy even found a way to use her son's Apple Watch onboard! I love that both of them also use a simple paper and pen in the stateroom to leave notes about where they are heading next. The ships are big, but if you have a few meeting spots and times I think you'll be surprised at how easy it is to connect!
Have a fantastic adventure on your cruise, King Yu! I'm wishing you smooth sailing and lots of pixie dust.
Keep moving forward!
Amanda
