Hello there Gerald and welcome back to planDisney!
From the looks of it, you'll be arriving for your visit to Orlando soon and we're always so glad to help you out as you make your way over here! Now when it comes to planning a
Walt Disney World Resort Hotel stay at this time of year, one should always be prepared for some temperamental shifts in the weather (if the past two years have been any indication) and packing a poncho or umbrella could be key to keeping dry in the event of a typical Floridian downpour in the middle of your day.
You'll be happy to hear that guests are absolutely permitted to bring umbrellas into Magic Kingdom Park, just as they are in any of the Theme Parks at Walt Disney World Resort. In fact, while
various pole or stick items are on the official prohibited items list, umbrellas are not! You might even be able to catch a glimpse of Cast Members and Character friends alike beneath umbrellas of their own in the event that you have the opportunity to view a Rainy Day Cavalcade as it makes its way along the parade route avoiding raindrops.
Speaking of parades, it's important to note that if it is not raining you may be asked to close your umbrella as a safety measure and courtesy to fellow guests and Cast Members alike during
shows or other forms of entertainment where umbrellas could significantly affect the view and enjoyment of everyone around you. Similarly, you may find it difficult to carry an umbrella
on certain rides or attractions; luckily you may be able to benefit from
special lockers where you can store them for a time along with the backpacks your group will be bringing along. Policies are always subject to change without prior notice, and I've noticed my share of quirky umbrellas shaped like lightsabers or swords that could merit an extra look by the security Cast Members! However, beyond these exceptions you should be free to live your best Mary Poppins life with your umbrella in hand as you enter the Most Magical Place on Earth! Don't hesitate to
come back to planDisney for any more advice, tips and tricks ahead of your upcoming Disney adventure!
And remember: if life gives you rainy days, go play in the puddles!
