Greetings, Erin! Thanks for stopping by the Disney Parks Moms Panel and asking your question.
No matter the time of year that I visit the Walt Disney World Resort, I always come prepared for rain and LOTS of it. The early afternoon rainstorm is almost a guarantee whether you are traveling in February or October or anytime in between. Speaking from personal experience, you can most certainly bring umbrellas into the parks and I suggest bringing one for every family member. I also recommend bringing ponchos as many times having only an umbrella doesn’t quite cut it. If you will be traveling with little ones in a stroller then you will also want to bring along a plastic stroller cover. Then, every time you park your stroller, place the cover over the stroller just in case. I can’t tell you how many times we parked our stroller when the skies were clear and sunny only to return to a completely soaked stroller once we exited an attraction or restaurant!
Also, it’s a good idea to have a loose plan of what to do when it starts to pour. You might want to wait to see certain shows like
Country Bear Jamboree, Voices of Liberty and the
American Adventure, or
Festival of the Lion King for when a rainstorm is imminent. Or duck into your favorite quick service eatery for a snack. Sometimes the rain quits just as fast as it starts, so be prepared to be a little patient and then carry on with the rest of your day.
I hope this helps. Have a magnificent time at the Most Magical Place on Earth!
