Hi Tami,
Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel, and thank you for your question. I asked my prince and princess whether they think you should bring a princess costume to Walt Disney World and they gave a resounding and royal YES!
It is so much fun to dress up as a favorite character at Walt Disney World, and guests under 14 years of age are welcome to wear a costume as long as it meets the
Park Rules. Whether your child is riding 7 Dwarfs Mine Train in a Snow White Costume or visiting Tiana while wearing her beautiful green gown, wearing a costume adds extra magic to your child’s day. Be sure to get lots of
photos of your child in his or her beautiful costume, especially with the characters. Looking back on those special photos is a great way to preserve your magical memories.
Now for a quick reality check. It’s hot in Orlando, and those dresses can be hot and itchy. I like to arrive at the park in the morning with my child dressed in his or her costume, but bring a change of clothes in a Ziploc baggie. We can dash into a restroom to change and cool off, store the dress in the baggie to keep it clean, and then change again if we have special dining or character plans later.
My family also loves to bring fun Disney t-shirts or other accessories so we have Disney touches every day. Whether it’s a character tee, a fun button, or Minnie ears, it’s so much fun to coordinate our outfits to fit the park we’re visiting. The characters love seeing Guests in costumed and themed outfits. My daughter wore a popsicle tank top to meet Elsa, and both Anna and Elsa talked to her in detail about how they make popsicles, their favorite flavors, and the best ice cream shop in Arendelle. It’s such a special memory!
Wishing you a magical vacation,
Robyn
