Good afternoon, James, my name is Sami, and I am a planDisney Panelist (though not affiliated with any Tribe or Sweat Lodge at the current moment). It looks like you are in need of some assistance, so I’m so glad you stopped by planDisney with this question ahead of your upcoming cruise so I can help!
Even though I don’t have a manual like Russell to answer your question, I appreciate how intentional you are being with your cruise preparations. It sounds like you are a well-qualified Wilderness Explorer. I consulted with a resourceful Disney Cruise Line representative to confirm that if your fan is deemed a
prohibited item by a Cast Member on embarkation day, it will be held for you until after you disembark. You will receive written instructions while onboard as to where and when you can retrieve your items after your sailing. In my experience, it is a fairly simple process, and you simply need to show your
Key to the World Card (or another picture ID) to confirm the item is yours so they can return it to you.
While the sea air is quite enchanting, I can also understand why you would want to have a fan with you while onboard, especially if you’re planning to experience one of the tropical port adventures. I personally travel with a small portable or wearable fan that can be charged with a USB port.
Whatever you decide to bring, I suggest packing it in your carry-on bag so that it can be inspected in front of you while checking in. If a prohibited item is found in your checked baggage, it could delay its delivery to your stateroom on embarkation day. Speaking of carry-on bags, make sure to also keep your
travel documents and medications on you, as well as some fun items like sunglasses and swimsuits so you can start having fun the moment you step on the ship!
If by chance you do need to pick up any other provisions while at sea, James,
Mickey’s Mainsail is a great place for both necessities and fun souvenirs unique to the vessel you’ll be sailing on. And while I don’t expect you to encounter any Snipes on your trip, you can usually find a chocolate on your stateroom pillow before bed if you need a sweet treat for yourself. Of course, if you think of any other questions before your trip, I hope you’ll head back to us here at
planDisney.
Adventure is out there!
