Can I bring my popcorn bucket that I purchased in MK last year to the park with me this year and pay for a refill? Also, can I bring my refillable mug that I got with the purchase of the Dining Plan last year and get free drink refills at my resort?

    Hi Melissa,

Thank you for stopping by planDisney with your vacation planning question.  Looks like your vacation is just around the corner, how exciting!  Snacking at the Walt Disney World Resort is one of my favorite "attractions" and like you, I love the refillable popcorn buckets and the Resort refillable mugs!  Not only are they such a bargain, they make great souvenirs to take back home and remind you of your happy place.

The refillable popcorn buckets are good for length of stay and it usually specifies this on the menu boards that serve popcorn.  The refillable popcorn bucket designs also change about once a season, so you will notice the new popcorn buckets will be different from your last visit.  It doesn't hurt to bring your old popcorn bucket if you just want to divide up the popcorn so that nobody in your party becomes the "popcorn pig" and doesn't relinquish the bucket as often as others like.  I may have been called this once or twice by my children....

The same is true for the Resort refillable mugs, they are good for your length of stay.  During this time of physical distancing, my friends have reported to me that beverage service at the Disney Resort hotels is now done by Cast Members and it is no longer self service.  You will show your mug to the Cast Member and let them know which drink you would like and they will give you a disposable cup with your beverage.

Before you head on your vacation, I suggest taking time to familiarize yourself with Mobile Food & Beverage Ordering.  This is a feature in your My Disney Experience account and can be accessed on the go using your mobile device.  There are so many places in which you can use Mobile Food & Beverage Ordering!  Not only does it save time, it limits your need to wait in a queue and keeps you physically distanced from others.  My kids call it their "Food FastPass+" and I totally agree! Another link that may be helpful to you is this page for Walt Disney World Operational Updates which has a host of information about what is new for this visit during the phased reopening of Walt Disney World.

Have a Magical vacation and please let us know if we can answer any further questions, we love to help!
