Hello, Desiree!
Welcome back to planDisney, thanks for sailing over with your question!
Guests are currently welcome to bring their own snorkeling gear to use on
Disney Castaway Cay. You can bring swim fins, snorkels, full-face snorkel masks, and swim masks (although they are not permitted to be used in the pools on the ship). You can also bring US Coast Guard-approved personal flotation devices (PFD), swim vests, water wings, and flotation devices sewn into a bathing suit, and those items are permitted in the pools and at Disney Castaway Cay.
But I see that you're specifically looking for advice about vests to be worn while snorkeling at Disney Castaway Cay. While snorkeling vests aren't listed as a
prohibited item, all guests in the snorkeling areas are required to wear a vest so that the lifeguards can monitor them effectively. I would recommend asking on the island if it's ok for you to wear your own vest before swimming out on your adventure since the lifeguards that day must approve your vest. Did you know that the snorkeling vests are complimentary for guests to borrow the snorkeling vests on Disney Castaway Cay, even if you aren't
renting other snorkeling equipment? It's true! So even if the lifeguards on the island need you to wear one of their vests you won't be charged for that.
Have you made other plans for your visit to the island? My all-time favorite Port Adventure at Disney Castaway Cay is
Parasailing! It might look extreme, but it's honestly super relaxing and you get a gorgeous view. I also love to get off the ship nice and early to try and grab a hammock on the beach. It doesn't get much better than swinging in the breeze as you look up at a blue sky through the green palm trees! Don't forget to check the
Disney Cruise Line Navigator app to see all the fun things happening during the day on the island, too.
You don't want to miss Mickey and his pals in their best island fashion! Have so much fun flippin' your fins at Disney Castaway Cay, Desiree!
Keep moving forward!
Amanda
