Hey there, Cynthia!
Welcome back to planDisney! A
trip to Blizzard Beach is the perfect combo of splashtastic thrills and some lounge time too. After a trip down Summit Plummet and a ride on
Runoff Rapids, you'll be ready for some relaxation and some shade! Let's go over beach umbrella regulations and some tips for staying out of the sun, so you can get back to planning the perfect water park day.
Cynthia, I spoke with a friendly Cast Member who let me know that while beach umbrellas are not on
the list of prohibited items, they recommend inquiring about using your personal umbrella when you arrive at the water park. He noted that some larger umbrellas would most likely not be able to be set up. I know this was not the news you were hoping to hear, but I do have a few tips to help you find a shady spot should you now want to risk having to store your umbrella! Pro tip number one for securing a shady spot is to arrive early (before the park opens for the day). While some Guests may head for their favorite slide, you can find your spot and get settled. You can find lots of shady sites in the Polar Pub area.
You could also consider
renting one of the Lodge Umbrellas at Blizzard Beach. Along with your reserved spot (and umbrella), you'll have towels, sand chairs, and lounge chairs set aside just for you and your crew. Having a designated shady meet-up spot means you can unwind without going on an umbrella hunt first thing. There is also the option of the
Polar Patios. In addition to shade, this site comes with a locker, stocked soft drinks and cool water, and an attendant on hand to help you throughout the day! That's a pretty magical way to unwind. You can reserve either of these options 60 days in advance online or
through the My Disney Experience app.
Wishing you the perfect mix of sun, shade, and fun!
