Ahoy there, Lluvia. Welcome to planDisney. I’m so glad you’ve taken the time to stop by with an important question for us!
As a nurse practitioner, I’m the one everyone in my family turns to for any aches, pains or discomfort. I’m also the one who ensures vital medications, both prescription and over-the-counter, are brought with us when we’re traveling. My family knows I always carry the essentials, such as Tylenol for mild pain or Epi-pen for my son’s anaphylaxis to peanuts.
I’d like to assure you that you are able to bring your medicine with you during your
Disney cruise. For over-the-counter medications, you can bring a small pillbox and sometimes I find that a labeled plastic sandwich bag can do the trick. If you have a prescription medication, especially if it’s a controlled substance, I highly recommend you keep it in its original container with the medication label on it. On Embarkation Day, I suggest keeping your medication with you in a
carry-on bag, instead of placing it in your checked luggage. Also, if you need to refrigerate your medication, you can safely stash it in your mini fridge inside your
stateroom.
While you’re onboard, if you need to seek medical attention, please know you can head to the
Health Center, which is staffed with a doctor and a nurse 24/7. Also, if you need to give yourselves injections during your cruise, you can safely dispose your used syringes in a sharps container located in your stateroom bathroom. Feel free to ask your cabin steward for a new sharps container if it becomes full.
I hope this information is helpful for you! If you have more trip-planning questions for us, please don’t hesitate to visit us on
planDisney again.
SEA ya real soon,
Kiki
