Hi If we bring a manual chair can we rent an EVC and leave the manual chair with name tags at guest services? How long do you usually wait with DAS and can we also use Genie+ on different rides for my most easy agitated and over-stimulated riders?

    Hi Hannah,

Thank you for stopping by planDisney with your questions about Electric Conveyance Vehicle (ECV) rental, Disability Access Services (DAS), and Disney Genie+ service.

I am glad you are looking into renting an ECV for your upcoming trip.  Having an ECV can help Guests with mobility issues enjoy their vacations so much more!  Manual wheelchairs can be fatiguing after propelling around all day long, but ECV's come with a handy-dandy battery that can be recharged in a matter of hours.  Wouldn't it be nice if we could all recharge our batteries in just a few hours?

I called and spoke to a Cast Member at the number listed in this link for Services for Guests with Mobility Disabilities about being able to store your manual wheelchair when you rent an ECV in the theme parks.  The answer is that it is dependent upon the availability of space at the time of your rental.  The Cast Member stated that Magic Kingdom does have capability to store your manual wheelchair, but the other theme parks have limited capacity, and it is on a first-come, first-served basis for storage.  I have a solution for you though!  Since you are planning on renting an ECV, I suggest renting an ECV for the length of your stay from a Disney featured provider listed at the bottom of this link for ECV rentals.  That way you will have the use of the ECV outside of the theme parks, too.  If you are staying at a Disney Resort hotel, the Disney featured provider will deliver your ECV directly to your Resort hotel so it couldn't be easier.

It sounds like you have been doing your homework, and I am glad to hear that you are familiar with DAS already.  Whenever you make a DAS selection, your return time will be comparable to the current standby wait time so this will vary from attraction to attraction.  In order to register for DAS, you may do so either in person at Guest Services in any theme park or pre-register in advance with a live video-chat with a Cast Member.  The benefit of pre-registering is that if it is granted you will be able to make 2 DAS selections prior to your arrival!

I have more good news for you!  Disney Genie+ service is independent of DAS selections and you may purchase Disney Genie+ service separately and use it as you normally would.  Disney Genie+ service may be purchased the day of your visit and you may begin making your first Lightning Lane selection at 7 AM EST.

I hope this information helps you with your upcoming vacation plans, Hannah.  Please come back and visit us again with all of your Disney vacation planning questions.  We are always excited to help you make your Disney dreams come true.

    See Ya Real Soon,
