Hi Emilie!
Staying cool in the Florida heat at Walt Disney World is so important, and can make a big difference in a successful vacation!
You can absolutely bring a handheld portable fan that charges with a USB cord into the Disney theme parks. In fact, you’ll never find me without one on a Disney vacation! Handheld fans are a great way to stay cool and comfortable while exploring the parks, especially during the warmer months. Just be sure your fan complies with Disney's
general park guidelines. As long as your fan is handheld and doesn’t have any sharp or potentially dangerous parts, you shouldn’t have any issues.
If your fan requires frequent recharging, you might find it helpful to bring a portable power bank. There are also several charging stations throughout the parks where you can recharge your devices! In
Magic Kingdom Park, my favorite place to relax and recharge is the sitting area across from the Tangled Restrooms (near
Haunted Mansion). In
Epcot, the newly renovated area called World Celebration Gardens has tons of seating and several charging stations in the shade. Make sure to stop by for a photo with the new
Walt the Dreamer statue!
Here are a few more tips on how to beat the heat in Walt Disney World:
1. Stay hydrated! Carry a refillable water bottle and make use of the numerous water fountains and hydration stations throughout the parks. You can also ask for free cups of ice water at any quick-service restaurant.
2. Check out indoor attractions, shows, and character experiences during the hottest parts of the day. Air conditioning is your friend! My favorite spots to cool down are
The Hall of Presidents in Magic Kingdom Park,
The American Adventure in Epcot,
For the First Time in Forever: A Frozen Sing-Along Celebration in Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and
Finding Nemo: The Big Blue…and Beyond in Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park.
3. Don’t forget the sunscreen! Nothing makes you feel more hot and uncomfortable than a sunburn, so make sure to protect your skin from the strong Florida sun.
I hope this advice helps! Enjoy your trip and stay cool.
