Hi Lynn! Thanks for dropping by planDisney.
Disneyland Resort has height requirements for select attractions not on the basis of maturity or age but for the safety of Guest riders. There is a
list of the attractions with height requirements. The specific height depends on the safety requirements of each attraction's ride system and is noted. No exceptions can be made due to it being a safety issue.
Disneyland Resort is dedicated to the safety of all its Guests and to being a welcoming, inclusive destination the whole family can enjoy. I think you'll be happily surprised at how many attractions can be experienced regardless of the Guest's height. If you take a look at the
attractions, you'll find the majority don't have a height requirement. There is plenty to experience! You are going to have the best time exploring and making magical memories with your grandson.
Some of my family's favorite rides don't have a height requirement, including
Pirates of the Caribbean in New Orleans Square at Disneyland Park, which delivers some thrills in the form of a couple of stomach-swooping drops. Also in Disneyland Park, try
Davy Crockett's Explorer Canoes in Frontierland for a real, free-floating canoe experience,
Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters in Tomorrowland to take aim at Zurg in a fun space battle, and
Astro Orbitor in Tomorrowland for a flight high above the park! Plus, we never skip a visit to the iconic Haunted Mansion in New Orleans Square, which will be decked out for the holidays and transformed into
Haunted Mansion Holiday, while you're visiting. It's a can't miss!
I actually think the most exhilarating attraction in either park is Pixar Pal-A-Round on Pixar Pier in Disney California Adventure Park. If you're feeling really daring, try the
Pixar Pal-A-Round Swinging version! There's no height requirement to test your nerves on this giant Ferris wheel attraction. Then go try your skills at
Toy Story Midway Mania! also located in Pixar Pier before swinging over to save the day like Spider-Man in Avengers Campus on
WEB SLINGERS: A Spider-Man Adventure.
I love a multi-generation trip to the parks! I just wrapped one up with my family a few weeks ago. As you're planning, check out the
Disney Parks Blog, which is the official park resource for all the news on what new treats, entertainment, and merchandise you can experience while you're visiting. The
Holidays at the Disneyland Resort have so many new things to try that you'll want to have your must-eat and must-do list handy before you arrive.
Have a magical time!
Elizabeth
