Hi Tony!
Welcome back to the Disney Parks Moms Panel! It always delights me to greet a fellow North Carolinian. If we had an award, I would be pleased to nominate you for the grandparent of the year award - what a wonderful experience you are planning for your grandchildren!
With such flexibility in dates, you have some time to actually check the
Special Offers as they are released for
vacation packages. When we have traveled in the past, the more affordable times have been early to mid-November, mid to late January, February, and early in March. Although prices can fluctuate, I would have to say that the most expensive time of year we have traveled (and the most crowded) has been the week of Christmas up through New Year's. If you choose to go in January, I would also avoid the dates of
Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend which is currently scheduled for January 6-10, 2021 unless, of course, you decide to run!
A five or six night stay sounds just perfect. When we started staying at
deluxe and deluxe villa resort hotels, we cut back from six nights to five to keep the costs affordable. We fell in love with deluxe and deluxe villa resort hotels because we value having access to a wider range of dining and transportation options. Resorts with access to the
Resort Monorail and those with access to the
Disney Skyliner are perfect for us! Even though we typically pay more for a deluxe or deluxe villa resort, that additional cost is balanced with the time we save being able to walk to Magic Kingdom (if we stay at Disney's Contemporary Resort) or walk to Epcot and Disney's Hollywood Studios (if staying at one of the resort hotels in Disney's BoardWalk area).
Tony, on every trip, we have started planning at least one special experience for our girls. Take a few minutes to review the
Enchanting Extras Collection. Our girls have loved each of the
Nature Experiences we have done - Caring for Giants, Up Close with Rhinos, and Dine with an Animal Specialist. Just pay close attention to the recommended age guidelines and book early as tours fill quickly. Remember to reserve your vacation package with enough time to make your
advanced dining reservations 180 days in advance!
Our girls still have the best memories of their first trip with my parents. It was such a special trip. Bring on the magic - I trust that this trip with your grandchildren will come with lots of love and laughter!
Magic and memories,
Donyell
