We want to bring our 2 grandchildren, ages 9 and 5 to Disney World for 2-3 days and then take a cruise. Are there packages that combine these vacations? What ship do you recommend?

    Ahoy, Tony!

Thanks for cruising by the Disney Parks Moms Panel with your question - I'm happy to help!

My very favorite Disney vacation is one that combines the fun and excitement of the Walt Disney World Resort theme parks, followed by the rest and relaxation of a Disney Cruise. I like to call it our "castle to castle" adventure - from Cinderella Castle to sand castles!

The easiest way to book a Land and Sea package is by calling Disney Cruise Line directly and have an agent walk you through the planning process. From choosing a resort hotel, to booking Ground Transfers for your sailing party, they can help with creating a seamless transition from land to sea. When you're ready to book your magical vacation, you can reach Disney Cruise Line booking agents by calling (800) 951-3532. Another option is to use an Authorized Disney Travel Planner who specializes in Disney Cruise Line vacations.

As far as recommending a ship, you'll want to choose a ship departing from Port Canaveral, Disney Cruise Line's home port, which is the closest port to Walt Disney World Resort. Currently, guests are able to choose between three Disney ships departing from this port: Disney Wonder, Disney Dream, and Disney Fantasy. The Disney Wonder and Disney Dream itineraries are typically 3 and 4-night cruises, and the Disney Fantasy is the ship you'll want to book for 7-night voyages. I always recommend at least a 4-night cruise, so you have enough time to really experience everything offered on a Disney Cruise. I encourage you to visit the Disney Cruise Line website to compare itineraries and features of each ship to see which appeals to you and your grandchildren the most! Asking me to pick a favorite ship would be like choosing a favorite child - I love different things about each ship in the fleet, and have loved every sailing I've been on. There's no wrong choice when choosing which ship will be your floating "home-away-from-home"!

    Have a magical day! - Diane W.
