Can I bring food into the park?

Greetings, Amy, and welcome to planDisney! As a Magic Key holder who visits the Disneyland Resort often, I’ve handled mealtimes a few different ways, including bringing food into the park. I’m happy to share some information that can help with your planning!

Amy, you’re welcome to bring outside food into the park for your own consumption, but there are a few rules to keep in mind. According to the Disneyland Resort Property Rules, you may not bring alcoholic beverages or glass containers, and food should not require heating, special preparation, or refrigeration. It should also be free of strong odors, so sardines may not be the best choice! Think along the lines of a picnic. I’ve brought sandwiches, cold pasta salad, and veggie wraps, which all worked out great.

When it comes to storing food, my family usually brings an insulated lunchbox with a few reusable ice packs. Lockers are available for rent if you want to store your items until you want or need them. Keep in mind that loose ice and dry ice are not allowed.

I also like to toss a few snacks into my backpack, such as granola bars, pretzels, fruit, and trail mix. That way, I have easy access to them in case my little ones get hungry between mealtimes.

Of course, there are plenty of great snack and meal options throughout the parks, with options for a range of preferences and budgets. Check out the dining page on the Disneyland website to see if anything catches your eye. I especially appreciate the array of plant-based dishes, which are clearly marked with a leaf icon on the menus. Some of our favorite spots include Hungry Bear Barbecue Jamboree, Red Rose Taverne, Smokejumpers Grill, and Boardwalk Pizza & Pasta. And we usually don't leave without grabbing a Mickey pretzel, popcorn, or Dole Whip! For inspiration, browse through the Foodie Guides on the Disney Parks Blog!

Amy, I hope your next visit to the Disneyland Resort is full of magical moments and delicious food. Please let us know if you have any other questions. We at planDisney are always happy to help.

    Bon appétit!
