Can you bring food in a cooler in the park?

    Hi ya, Cherry!

Welcome to planDisney! We are so excited to hear from you and even happier to see that you are there now. There’s so much to do, see, and enjoy while visiting Walt Disney World Resort. The best part is that you are there during the holiday season, which makes everything there just a little more magical.

As far as food and your cooler go, you can absolutely bring in both items. I recommend packing food that is easy, on-the-go, and travels well. My family usually brings our favorite snack items and frozen PB&J sandwiches that do not double as an ice pack, and once defrosted, a tasty treat. A couple of years ago, we purchased an insulated backpack so that we could keep our food and beverages cool while still carrying all the essentials with us, like rain coats for those rainy summer days.

If you would rather stick to a traditional cooler, be sure to check out the park rules just to make sure yours is an approved size. Your cooler or backpack must be without wheels, and no larger than 24" long x 15" wide x 18" high (61 cm x 38 cm x 46 cm). To keep your items cool, keep in mind that loose or dry ice is not permitted in these containers.  I recommend purchasing some reusable ice packs or even freezing water bottles that can help keep your items cool and allow you to stay hydrated once thawed.

Another great option is to rent a locker to store your bag! Since most of the food items we bring as on-the-go options. We keep a few with us and the rest in the bag in a locker. As the day progresses and we all start feeling a little hungrier, it is then that we will head to the locker and grab what we need. It’s also the perfect time to store any items we’ve purchased as well. So if you like being hands-free, a locker rental is a must.

Cherry, I hope this has helped answer your question. Enjoy your time in the theme parks, and if there’s anything else we can help with, please let us know!
