Hi Debora,
Welcome back to planDisney and thank you so much for asking us a great question!
I assume that by “electric curlers” you mean a set of individual hot curlers. Although curling irons are specifically called out as an exception to the general prohibition on Appliances, Electrical Items and Electronics in Disney Cruise Line’s
Prohibited and Restricted Items list, a set of curlers isn’t on that list.
I’ve checked with various sources and, from what I understand, the only answer that we can give you ahead of time is “maybe.” Some additional electric appliances are allowed onboard following an inspection by the Chief Electrician at embarkation. If your appliance is approved, will be returned to you for use onboard the ship. If an appliance isn’t cleared, however, then it will be collected by Cruise Line staff, and you’ll be able to retrieve it once you disembark (provided you’re sailing to and from the same port.)
Because I don’t have the technical details about your set of curlers and I don’t believe you can consult the Chief Electrician prior to your sailing, I’m afraid that you’ll only get a definitive answer when you board. That said, you'll have better chances if the
total wattage doesn't exceed 1500W.
My suggestion would be to keep your curlers in a “carry on” bag and
not your checked (tagged) luggage. Ask the Cast Member who will be checking you in for your voyage whether the item can be inspected prior to boarding. If your curlers pass, then you should be good to go! That said, if you can find a way to use a curling iron or live without your curlers for your sailing, I highly recommend going that route instead. It will make for a much smoother boarding process for you and your party.
Please don’t hesitate to come back and see us if you have any other questions!
Have a Magical Day,
Lynne
