Hi Tim!
Welcome to planDisney! I hope you are eager to "drink in" the
Disney magic and make lots of incredible memories on your Disney cruise.
You’ve given me another mystery to solve, this time about whether a reverse osmosis machine can be taken onboard. My first clue is to do exactly what you did already: check the list of
Prohibited Items. You are correct that this particular item is not showing up on the list. But I would say that it falls in the category of an electrical appliance and probably would not be allowed. I understand how you do not want to haul your purifier all the way there just to have it stay with the crew for a few days while you sail.
I did some more digging and found that Disney Cruise Line uses a reverse osmosis process to filter the water for onboard use, and the filtered water is safe for drinking. I hope you find this reassuring about the water quality that the same protocol you want to use on the water is actually already being used onboard! So you could say that bringing a purifier would be redundant!
So the final step to unraveling this mystery is contacting Disney Cruise Line directly to ask. And after speaking to a Cast Member, she believes that even though this device is not specified on the no-no list, it falls in that category and you should leave it at home. However, if you do have a medical reason for needing the machine, we would suggest contacting
Special Services at (407) 566-3602 and they will be happy to assist you with making appropriate arrangements.
Glad we could solve the mystery of the reverse osmosis machine together! Tim, please send us a message in a (water) bottle with any additional questions.
Happy Sailing!
Sherry
