Ahoy Thajmire!
Thanks for cruising by planDisney with a very important question as you get ready to set sail with Disney Cruise Line in just about a week!
Thajmire, travel documentation requirements can vary based on your citizenship and the origin/destination of your cruise. U.S. citizens sailing on a closed-loop cruise to the Bahamas or Caribbean can use a birth certificate to sail, but it must be an original, state-issued birth certificate - copies are not allowed. Minors under the age of 16 can sail just with their original birth certificate. In contrast, those over 16 must also present a physical government-issued ID and their original birth certificate if they choose to sail without a U.S. Passport. I would suggest carefully reviewing the
required travel documents for your particular cruise and
contacting Disney Cruise Line directly if you have additional questions as Guests without proper identification will be denied boarding.
Once you have boarded the cruise ship, the magic begins right away! When
packing, don't forget to pack a day bag, as your checked luggage will be taken at the port and arrive in your stateroom later in the day. Your day bag should include any travel documentation and medicine needed for the day. We also like to pack a few snacks for our kids during the embarkation process and bathing suits so we can head to the pool deck for lunch and fun in the sun before dinner later that evening! I'd suggest reviewing the
list of prohibited and restricted items too before you leave home to ensure smooth sailing once you arrive at the port.
I also like to take my little ones to see the
Youth Clubs that first day. These clubs usually have an open house setting during embarkation so families can stop by together to check out the spaces, meet some of the counselors, and ask any questions they may have. You'll be able to find a full list of activities, entertainment, and dining options in your
Disney Cruise Line Navigator App!
Thajmire, I hope this information is helpful and that you enjoy a magical vacation with Disney Cruise Line! If you have any other questions, please set sail to planDisney again!
Bon Voyage!
