We have a droid backpack from a previous trip for our R2 unit. Want to build a BB unit next. Can I bring my backpack and would it fit in the R2 unit's pack? Or do I need to buy a new one?

    Bright Suns, Jana!

Welcome to planDisney! We are DELIGHTED you stopped by and are honored to help you plan your upcoming trip to Disney World! There’s nothing quite like stepping into Hollywood Studios and feeling the hum of adventure in the air, especially when you’re about to build your very own droid at Droid Depot. The lights, the sounds, and the promise of new memories in Galaxy's Edge make this experience truly out of this world. And now, adding another custom droid to your Star Wars collection? This is pure MAGIC!

Since you’re gearing up for this epic droid-building mission, it’s totally fair to wonder if your trusty backpack from your last adventure will hold another droid. Your R-series companion tends to be a bit more of a “tall and sturdy” astromech, while the BB units are rounder and like to roll in style, so the fit can depend on how much extra space your current pack has. If your backpack had a little wiggle room before, there’s a good chance your new droid will fit snugly and safely for your journey through Batuu.

However, if your last droid already filled the pack to the brim like a full cargo hold on the Millennium Falcon, it may be wise to invest in a new one designed for your new droid’s shape. The official Droid Depot backpacks are perfectly designed for the type of unit you build, making it super easy to carry your creation around Hollywood Studios (and very photogenic!). Plus, having the right pack means your droid can peek out and enjoy the sights of Black Spire Outpost—because even droids deserve a view of the Galaxy! Whether you stick with your current backpack or grab a new one, you’ll be ready to roll, or beep-boop, into your next great adventure. May your new BB unit be full of personality and your backpack full of style!

NOTE: I also wanted to make sure you know that you can definitely bring your R-series backpack to the park, regardless of your decision.

As you continue to plan for your adventure, make sure you check out the Disney Parks Blog for the most up-to-date information regarding all things Disney! There are some exciting surprises planned in the next few months, and we don't want you to miss any of the fun!

May The Force Be With You!
