Brigitta, As a fellow Canadian and international traveler, I hope you can answer my question. Have you used Disney's Magical Express? If you have how exactly does it work for those of us flying from Canada? Do we have to claim our own luggage? Thank you.

    Hello Christa,

I have used the ME both when I lived and traveled from Ontario as well as from my home here on the West coast and I only once had a problem when I left from Toronto many years ago. I arrived at Toronto Pearson Airport very early in the morning for my flight and was told that for some reason the U.S. Customs and Immigration was not yet open so when we arrived in Orlando, we then had to claim our luggage there and go through customs at MCO, but at all other times (there have been many!) I have not ever experienced this scenario again.

I would suggest you attach your yellow tags for Magical Express on to your luggage as usual, check it in at the airport and the next time you see it will be at your WDW Resort. As long as you go through the U.S. Customs and Immigration in your Canadian airport no claiming and re-checking of your luggage is necessary. This is what happens on the Canadian side, but for the Orlando side as I mentioned if you are flying directly to the States from Canada and you have already gone through U.S. Customs and Immigration, then you will not need to claim your luggage and recheck it in Orlando!

The only thing that you will not be able to take advantage of is the express luggage and airline check-in service at your WDW Resort (when you are checking out of your WDW Resort and leaving for home). This is a service for which you can check your luggage and receive your boarding passes at your resort and it saves you having to do it at the airport. You will need to be on a domestic flight as well as traveling with a participating airline to use this service and unfortunately you won't fall into these categories. So, on your return trip home you will bring your luggage onto the Magical Express coach (they will stow it in the compartments underneath the coach during your ride to the airport) and then check it in yourselves with your airline at the Orlando International Airport. Have a magical trip!
