Hi there, John! I'm so glad you followed the magic brick road to us here at planDisney.
I believe you are referring to "Disney's Walk Around the World" bricks that were featured on paths near Magic Kingdom, the Transportation and Ticket Center, and the walkway between
Disney's Polynesian Village Resort and
Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa. I fondly remember walking by these commemorative bricks in the past, as each told a story of a family who loved traveling and making memories at Walt Disney World Resort.
The
removal of these bricks began in 2019, and Disney even offered a keepsake version of the bricks for purchase to guests who either had bricks on the paths or wanted a commemorative brick of their own. The path between the Polynesian and Grand Floridian has also drastically changed, as Island Tower now stands in place of the former pathway and Spirit of Aloha Dinner Show.
I know this likely isn't the answer you were looking for, especially if you were an owner of such a brick. I hope that you find time to visit the previous location of your brick on your next visit to the Polynesian and take in the sights and sounds where the brick once was. You'll see happy families laughing and smiling, kids splashing on the Moana splash pad, and guests enjoying a refreshing beverage or a
pineapple Dole Whip. Each of these people will be making special memories, just as you have in the past and will continue to do in the future.
Disney World is always changing, and change can be hard. We hold on to and cherish our memories from the past as we progress toward the future. As Walt Disney said, "We keep moving forward, opening new doors, and doing new things, because we're curious and curiosity keeps leading us down new paths." I'm excited to see what the new paths hold for me, my family, and all guests who visit Disney World. I'm confident those paths will enable us all to make memories that will last a lifetime.
Stay magical,
Scott
