Hiya, Breonna!
Thanks for making planDisney a part of the preparation for your upcoming magical vacation. I'm so glad you stopped by!
I'm a huge fan of character dining experiences, Breonna! My husband and I always make a reservation for at least one during each visit to Walt Disney World Resort. Not only are they a great way to ensure you'll get to say hello to certain characters, but in my experience, your table (and belly) will be filled with so much delicious breakfast food that you'll only require a Mickey-shaped snack to sustain you until dinner.
Chef Mickey's is located in
Disney's Contemporary Resort, so you can indeed make your way to the restaurant via monorail. While you'll be eligible to park at the Contemporary during your breakfast reservation, if you're planning to spend the rest of the day in Magic Kingdom Park I think it's a great idea to park (either
preferred or standard) in Magic Kingdom's dedicated lots in the morning so that you can head straight to the theme park after your meal with Mickey. Did you know that standard theme park parking is complimentary for Guests of Disney Resort hotels?
Because parking for Magic Kingdom Park is located at the Transportation & Ticket Center, all Guests either need to board a ferry or monorail to make their way to the theme park after parking. Personally, I'm a big fan of the monorail because of the incredible views of Disney Resort hotels, Seven Seas Lagoon, and Magic Kingdom Park. Since you're headed to Disney's Contemporary Resort, you'll want to be sure that you board the
Resort Monorail and not the Express, so be on the lookout for the signage that clearly identifies each one. Once aboard the Resort Monorail, you'll sit through stops at the Polynesian, Grand Floridian, and Magic Kingdom before disembarking inside the Contemporary at one of my favorite spots in The Most Magical Place on Earth - the Grand Canyon Concourse. Not only is it home to Chef Mickey's and Mary Blair's iconic mural (see if you can spot the five-legged goat) but also windows and balconies offering (what I like to call) a Tinkerbell perspective of Magic Kingdom Park.
Once you've finished your breakfast and are ready for a day of pixie dust inside the Magic Kingdom, I think you'll find that the Contemporary is the
practically perfect place to dine. The convenient location makes it possible to arrive at Magic Kingdom Park either by monorail or by foot. One of my favorite perks of Disney's Contemporary Resort is the walking path and dedicated security checkpoint for Guests headed to the Magic Kingdom. Of course, if you'd rather save your steps, you're more than welcome to hop back on the monorail and enjoy the ride.
I hope this information is helpful, Breonna, and that you'll
stop back by planDisney if you're in need of further assistance (or character dining recommendations) as you finalize your plans.
Thinking Happy Thoughts,
Lizzie
