Hey, Mrs. Ouida! Thanks so much for stopping by to ask your question! I am so glad to hear you will be able to experience all of the magic of Walt Disney World Resort with your family this fall, but I am sorry to hear about your ankle! I am sure my Dad has told you about the trip my sister and I took a couple of years ago just a few days after breaking my ankle. It was quite an adventure! I learned then that the easiest and best option for most guests with mobility issues is to rent one of the
motorized scooters, or ECVs for short. You may want to consider doing this as they are very easy to maneuver and can make a world of difference for you and your family. They can be rented right at the front of each theme park and in
Disney Springs, subject to availability. If you are staying at a
Disney Resort Hotel, then you may want to look at renting one from a Disney Featured Provider. The ones they have are a bit smaller and easily load on and off the Disney buses. The Providers drop them off and pick them back up at your resort's Bell Services, making it super easy for you!
I also learned during that experience that
each attraction handles ECVs and wheelchairs in different ways. Some will have you go right through the line while riding in your wheelchair, while others will have you go through a separate line. For example, wheelchair users are able to access their it's a small world boat through a separate entrance. You can even remain in your wheelchair for the attraction if you desire. At Avatar Flight of Passage, I was able to drive the ECV all the way through the line. Once I was on the ride vehicle, a Cast Member moved the ECV for me to just outside the main room. As you approach an attraction or show, Cast Members at the entrance will more than likely start sharing with you how to best handle the line before you even have to ask!
Thanks again for stopping by and please let me know if you have any other questions!
