Ahoy there, Nicole, and welcome to planDisney! I'm so excited that you'll be sailing on the Disney Wonder in a few months! My family had a chance to cruise on this wonderful ship earlier this year, and we had the best time. As someone with experience
navigating special diets on board, I'm happy to provide some guidance for your family.
Nicole, I spoke with a Cast Member about the hot chocolate available on the ship, and learned that the brand of hot chocolate could change depending on the supply delivery. When I sailed in April, I remember seeing Nestle brand hot chocolate packets, but I suggest checking with a Cast Member on Deck 9 to confirm the option once you board. To be safe, you can perhaps bring a few of your own gluten-free hot chocolate packets –
non-perishable food items may be brought on board as long as they are in their original, sealed containers.
Did you know that Disney Cruise Line uses
rotational dining, Nicole? There are three main dining venues aboard the ship, and you will be assigned a different one for dinner each night. The serving team will follow you to each location. During the first night of your cruise, talk with the Head Server about any special dietary requests and preferences, and they'll note it for the following nights. For example, I am plant-based, and after that first night, vegan bread and butter were always waiting for me at the table! I believe you can request gluten-free bread. That first night and at the following dinners, the Head Server worked with me to determine what meal I'd like the following night, reviewing the menu with me and suggesting off-menu options. There should be an Onboard Dining Session offered on embarkation day where you can jumpstart these conversations.
Nicole, I think you'll be pleasantly surprised by the quick-service options aboard the ship, too. Ask if a gluten-free cone is available at
Eye Scream Treats on Deck 9 – this is where you can walk up and get soft-serve ice cream! At Cabanas, you can speak with a Cast Member and request allergy-friendly Mickey waffles. We had these a lot during our cruise, and they were so tasty! You may also be able to request other foods such as gluten-free chicken tenders, pizza, cookies, and more. Similar to dinner, ask to speak to someone at each location about gluten-free options.
Nicole, I wish you smooth seas, sparkling glaciers, and unforgettable adventures aboard the
Disney Wonder! If you have any other questions ahead of your trip, please reach out. We're always happy to help here at planDisney.
Happy cruising!
