Hi moms! My boys are tall. My DS6 is tall enough for rock n roller coaster. He has been on every other ride in WDW at age 4. This one too intense? Also my DS2 is 40" tall any advice on coasters for him, too young for some? Me and DH love all rides. Th

    Hi Allison

My family also love all of the rides at the theme parks and my 8-year-old son has always been somewhat of a dare devil where they are concerned. He rode Rock 'n' Roller Coaster as soon as he was tall enough at the age of 7. I was a little nervous about him doing so knowing just how fast and dark a ride it is but he had been on an upside down roller coaster before and we felt sure that he would enjoy it.

As it happens, he LOVED it and I lost count of the amount of times that we rode that ride during our trip.

That said, not all children of this age would enjoy the ride. All children are different and this is where your judgement has to come in as no-one knows your son better than you.

I would recommend that you ride Space Mountain first to see if he likes that. If he does, I would then explain the Rock 'n' Roller Coaster ride to him and be clear about how fast and dark it is. If he feels brave enough, he will get a good indication of the speed as you can see the start of the ride whilst you are queuing up. Just to be sure he is ok, I would offer him the chance to change his mind at this point.

I would suggest that you use a similar strategy with your younger son. Again, my son rode everything barring Rock 'n' Roller Coaster on his first visit when he had just turned 6 but not all 4-year-olds will like fast, dark or high rides. Start with the smaller rides and work your way up based on his reactions.

I hope that this has been of help and wish you a magical trip!
