I have 2 boys 15 & 10 - would mickeys backyard bbq be to young for them or do older kids enjoy it? Any other breakfast or dinner choices you would recommend for their age group?

    Jessica:

With a 10-year-old and a 15-year-old among my crew, I feel Mickey's Backyard Barbecue would be a little juvenile for them. However, I don't know a teenager who would turn down all-you-can-eat Mickey Ice Cream bars!

I would recommend looking at the following for some alternatives:

    • 'Ohana: My sons love the all-you-can-eat skewers served tableside. I love the fact that I know how much their appetites will cost me as well as the bread pudding. Time your dining to enjoy the Magic Kingdom's fireworks from the restaurant or the Polynesian's marina.
    • Narcoossee's: Water-side dining and a menu that includes both surf and turf marks a special occasion. My kids were blown away by the view of the Magic Kingdom's fireworks. It makes a memorable last-night dinner.
    • Sci-Fi: There's simply something fun about eating in a car while watching old movies of 100-feet-tall monsters from the '50's for my bunch. Like the other two restaurants, its menu provides something for everyone.
    • San Angel Inn: I didn't realize this restaurant "under the stars" inside of Epcot's Mexican pavilion was so intriguing until my teenager said he wanted to go back.

I found that the older my children get, the more they want less characters and more of a dining "experience" that we won't find at home with a menu that offers familiar entrees. Using this as a guide may help you.

    Wishing y'all a magical vacation!

My family of 6 appreciates Disney's value! Although Ft. Wilderness is our second home, we've enjoyed the resorts for business, reunions and romantic getaways. For me, Disney also means dining: last count, I'd eaten at 55 restaurants around the World! Learn More About Whitney
