My boys (7&2.5) got a a Disney trip for Christmas. So very exciting, but we’re overwhelmed with the best things to do for the one day we’ll have there. We’ll explore Magic Kingdom. Any tips for us to get the most of the day? We’ll be there in a 3 weeks!

    Hi there, Beth!

Wow, what an incredible Christmas this must have been in your house! I know you are counting down the days until that magical trip with your two little boys. From one mom of two boys to another, I just want to tell you how excited I am for the amazing experience you are going to have with your family!

Given that you have one day at the Magic Kingdom, I know you will want to make the most of it. First, begin by checking the park hours for the day you will be visiting. Mid-January is a great time to visit, as the holiday crowds begin to decrease. First, I recommend you check out this handy Magic Kingdom Guide Map to get the lay of the land. Make sure you have the My Disney Experience Mobile App downloaded on your mobile device before your trip, and that you have used your Disney account to make your FastPass+ reservations in advance!

Each member of your party has 3 FastPass+ selections for your day at the Magic Kingdom that can be made in advance of your visit. Once all 3 are used, each person is available for one additional FastPass+ selection at a time until there are no more available. With FastPass+, you'll likely be able to experience each attraction with little to no wait! There will be so many options to delight both your boys, but if you'd all like to ride together, I would recommend that you begin with a few must-do attractions without height restrictions.  My top suggestions include Peter Pan's Flight in Fantasyland, Buzz Lightyear Space Ranger Spin in Tomorrowland, and Pirates of the Caribbean in Adventureland. If your 7-year old is ready for a little more thrill and you have at least one other adult coming along, you may want to split up the party and explore Seven Dwarfs Mine Train or even Space Mountain!

When you enter the park, be sure to pick up a times guide for information on special events and character experiences that day.  And remember, no single day at the Magic Kingdom is completed without viewing the Happily Ever After Fireworks, which will be the perfect icing on the cake for your family.

Beth, I hope you find this helpful as you continue to make plans for your big day, which is sure to be a day full of magic you will all remember forever.  Please do reach out again if you have any more questions!

    See ya real soon!
