Bright Suns, and welcome to planDisney! It sounds like your sons have an exciting trip to the Most Magical Place on Earth. It’s sure to be a major core memory to be had with their marching band! So let’s chat about getting them all set up to build their very own lightsabers.
I chatted with a Cast Member, and the booking system doesn’t allow guests under the age of 18 to reserve an
Enchanting Extra or a dining reservation that requires upfront payment. While your sons are old enough to make a lightsaber on their own, they’ll need you to book the reservation on their behalf. When you go through the booking process on the
Disney World website, there’s a drop-down menu where you can choose the builder from the people on your
Family & Friends List.
However, the Cast Member recommended calling to book the experience so you can confirm that they won’t need to bring the credit card used to make the reservation. They didn’t anticipate this being an issue, since you’re paying in advance, but said it wouldn’t hurt to add a note to the reservation. Give the
Tours and Recreation phone number a call, and a Cast Member would be happy to help!
Another thing to keep in mind is that you’ll need to book two reservations if both of your sons would like to build a lightsaber. If they’re okay with just one person doing the creating, each builder at
Savi’s Workshop is allowed to bring one guest with them to watch. So either way, they can both go into the workshop, even if only one is doing the building.
I know taking photos is often the last thing on our kids’ minds, but remind your sons to get plenty of pictures with their lightsabers. There will be
PhotoPass photographers around
Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, ready to get the most epic shots. If they’ll be in
Hollywood Studios at night, I love the evening photos because the glowing lightsabers really stand out!
I hope your sons have the best time embarking on their Star Wars adventure! And if any other questions come up before their trip, you’re always welcome back at planDisney.
