We would like to take our boys on DCL but 2 of our boys have food allergies. We have travelled with them to WDW with no problems. My worry is being at being at sea and all of the food prep. Would there be a problem with their allergies being accomodated?

It can be challenging traveling with a child with food allergies.

You will find the same quality service and attention to special diets on the Disney Cruise Line as you have experienced throughout the Walt Disney World resort.

While aboard the Disney Magic, I spoke with the Executive Chef. He recommends notifying Disney Cruise Line of food allergies and special diets prior to your sailing date.  Please fill out the Medical form in advance of your cruise.

Your family will then be able to meet with the Food Staff after boarding. During your first evening meal, your Server will further discuss allergy considerations. Depending on the severity of allergies and the need to prepare special dishes, the Server may have your family look at the next night’s menu in order to provide an appropriate meal at the following dinner.

If you fear cross-contamination, speak with the Food and Beverage Staff about your concerns. At buffet meals, ask for the Chef to show your family the dishes that should be avoided. You may also want to inquire about having a plated meal provided to the children with allergies.

In addition, your most stress-free meals will be those served in the table-service restaurants. Even on Castaway Cay day, you may want to return to the ship for the sit-down lunch.

You’ll also want to discuss allergy information with the Youth Activities counselors.

I have seen firsthand the special attention given to passengers with food allergies. The staff is very accommodating and seems to go out of their way to provide safe and delicious meals!
