Hi Moms, my boyfriend and I are taking our first vacation together to Walt Disney World and it will also be our one year anniversary. He's not the biggest Disney buff, what can we do that will be special that he will also enjoy? Also on a budget. Thanks!!

    Hello, Jennifer,

Congratulations on celebration your one year anniversary, and I'm hopeful that I can share with you some ideas to help make the trip as enjoyable for your boyfriend as it is for you.

First, there are a couple of questions where many of us here have offered ideas on things off the beaten path to do; just click here and here to read about many possibilities of things to do beyond the parks.

One of my all-time favorite things to do at WDW is to watch the fireworks from the beach at the Polynesian Resort.  In fact, there are hammocks that fit two people; how romantic!  And this is totally free, but you are welcome to purchase food and enjoy a picnic-style date. Similarly, many of the resorts have free movies poolside or at their beaches in the evenings that anyone is welcome to watch. Our favorite spot is the Beach Club. The Animal Kingdom Lodge is worth a visit just to explore all the African art and animals on the savannah.

If you'd like a chance to experience a lovely restaurant, but still stay on a budget the California Grill atop the Contemporary Resort is so lovely for dessert.  And if you dine early, you can return later in the evening for the fireworks.

Speaking of dining, if you visit www.disneyfoodblog.com and search for "best dining deals," you'll find a nice selection of articles on some of the best deals to help stretch your dollar.

Here are few other ideas for fun on a budget from Disney Dad Doug.

Wishing you a wonderful trip; please let us know if we can help again.
