Hi, my boyfriend and I are planning a Disney trip in 2024. His parents are DVC members. They were going to let us use points for a resort. Will the reservation be under their names or can it be under ours? How does this work?

Hey there, hi there, ho there, Ashlyn!

You're as welcome as can be at planDisney!  Thank you for bringing me your excellent question. How exciting that you are dreaming ahead about your Disney vacation.  My parents gifted us a Disney Vacation Club stay before my husband and I became Members, and it is truly a wonderful way to share the magic with the ones you love.

One of the great benefits of Disney Vacation Club is that Members can use their Vacation Club Points to book rooms for their loved ones and friends, in this case, you and your boyfriend.  It's like having your very own Fairy Godmother who, with a bippity-boppity-boo, can make your vacation dreams come true!

When your boyfriend's parents make the booking, they can put the reservation in your name.  They can either do this on the Disney Vacation Club Member website or by calling Member Services, just as they would with any other booking. The difference when they book your reservation is that they will put you and your boyfriend as the lead Guests on the reservation.  Once they receive the confirmation number, they need to share that with you.

In the meantime, I recommend you and your boyfriend create your own My Disney Experience accounts if you haven't done so already.  Once you have the confirmation number for the reservation, you can link that to your accounts.  You can also download the My Disney Experience app to your phones, which will make it possible for you to Check-In to your room right from the app!

While the cost of your stay will be covered by the gifted Disney Vacation Club Points, you will need to put a credit card on file for any room charges and incidentals not covered by the Vacation Points.

I hope this is most helpful for you Ashlyn.  If you have any additional questions as you begin planning your dream Disney vacation, I'm just one jump ahead and ready to help you.  When it comes to planning Disney vacations, you ain't never had a friend like me!

    See ya real soon,
    Keri
