Hiya Brooke!
Thanks for sailing by with your question!
It's always a good idea to have your travel documents in "shipshape" before you book a cruise.
Required travel documentation depends on your citizenship and the itinerary for your cruise. For round-trip cruises in the Bahamas sailing from Port Canaveral, Fort Lauderdale, Galveston, San Diego, and San Juan there are a few documentation options for US Citizens:
- An original valid US passport
- An original valid US passport card
- An original valid Trusted Travel Card (such as NEXUS or FAST)
- An original state-issued birth certificate and a physical, government-issued photo ID
So yes, you may choose to sail without a passport if you provide one of the other accepted forms of documentation. That being said, it's always safest to travel with a passport. I would recommend doing your best to get your passports in time but have your birth certificates and government-issued photo ID ready as a backup option. You can always use the passports for your next adventure!
Now, let's get to the fun stuff!
Disney Castaway Cay is one of my favorite places on the planet. It is just stunning! There are plenty of
Port Adventures ranging from relaxing to adventurous, but the best one for a couple (in my opinion) is parasailing. It's surprisingly calm when you soar through the air and the views of the island are amazing! You can also spend time relaxing at Serenity Bay, the adults-exclusive beach area that even has its own buffet location for lunch (with some extra options you won't find at the family beach). You're going to love it!
Have so much fun planning your cruise, Brooke! Be sure to let us know if you have more questions!
Keep moving forward!
Amanda
