Hi Amber,
Welcome to
planDisney and thank you for reaching out to us here with your awesome question! My daughter and I have had this discussion numerous times, I am so excited to help with your ongoing disagreement.
The AP sliders have been given to
Annual Passholders over the years as a gift, much like the magnets they are a cute way to show appreciation for some of Disney's most loyal customers. I tend to fall in the same category as your boyfriend and wear the slider near the top of my MagicBand, as an accessory that also makes it known that I am in fact an Annual Passholder. This makes it easier for Cast Members to identify Annual Passholders and may prompt Cast Members to ask if we have any discounts that can be used. It also serves as a quick visual for the Cast Member when arriving at a Theme Park and we want to use our parking benefit. It may save a few seconds and they can just ask for identification and our pass instead of a full conversation.
My daughter is on the other side of the conversation and uses her slider to secure her MagicBand. She has a tiny wrist and finds that her MagicBand comes apart frequently, and the slider does help keep it secure. For me, it is too bulky to wear the slider on that side, but it works for her!
The bottom line is that the Annual Passholder Slider is given to Passholders as a thank you gift. It is up to each guest how they wear their accessory, but you should wear it with pride since you are a part of an exclusive group of Disney guests. I am not sure if this helps settle your disagreement, but hopefully you both will be able to wear your sliders together in peace.
I hope you have a wonderful year of Disney Magic with your boyfriend and Annual Passes, Amber. If you have any other questions, please send them our way, we are always happy to help or settle any Disney disagreements.
