Welcome, Alyssa. Step into the Disney Parks Moms Panel parlor as we discuss the spooky (but not-so-scary) Halloween extravaganza at Walt Disney World...if you dare.
Ok seriously, thanks for stopping by with this great question! Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party at the Magic Kingdom Park is ghostly fun for everyone, and it isn't just kids who can get into the act. Normally, adults aren't allowed to wear costumes in any of the Theme Parks, but for the Halloween party, feel free to dress up and have fun.
You're just asked to use some common sense. The guideline posted on the web page for the event says "Please note: For the safest and best possible Guest experience, please choose costumes that are not obstructive or offensive." It's a family-friendly event with lots of children, so please, nothing too scary. Also, I'd leave anything that could be construed as a weapon at home, just to be safe. Party Guests are often allowed to enter the park as early as 4 p.m., so you could wear your costumes if you come in the late afternoon. I probably wouldn't try to do costumes earlier in the day.
One popular way to show your Disney Side is something called "Disneybounding." It's a style of dressing that pays tribute to your favorite Disney character without going for the full costume. You might find Disneybounding more comfortable and just as fun. My fellow panelist Jackie H. did a video with the founder of Disneybounding that may give you some ideas.
Alyssa, I hope you and your boyfriend have a blast on your Halloween Walt Disney World trip. Please come see us again if you have any more questions. And watch out - one of the happy haunts may just follow you home!
Have a magical day,
Kathy K.
