I bought two magic passes but I cannot find reservations because its the Imagine Key Pass. I need to upgrade to Enchant or do I have to cancel the key passes? I haven’t used them.

    Hello, Eduardo,

Welcome to the Magic Key holder family. You’ll be looking forward to a year of magic and adventure.

Current Disneyland Resort Magic Key holders may choose to upgrade their passes to a higher-level pass. Before the pass renewal window upgrades may be made to any level of pass that is currently available for new Magic Key sales. The availability of passes is subject to change. At the current time, only the Inspire Key Pass is available for new sales or upgrades outside of the pass renewal window. During the pass renewal window, an upgrade can be made to any pass type that can be renewed. At this time, Inspire Key Pass, Believe Key Pass, Enchant Key Pass, and Imagine Key Pass are all available for renewal and thus any Magic Key holder within their renewal window may upgrade to any of these pass types. (Note, one exception is that the Imagine Key Pass is only available for eligible Southern California residents in ZIP codes 90000 to 93599.)

Although the Enchant Key Pass is currently not available for purchase or upgrade outside of the renewal window, you may choose to upgrade to the Inspire Key Pass and enjoy fewer blockout dates compared to the Imagine Key Pass.

Tony’s Tip: The number of theme park reservations is limited. So there may be some days when reservations become unavailable for Guests, sometimes even including Magic Key holders. However, that park reservation availability can vary. For example, other Guests may need to change their plans. In many cases, they will end up canceling their reservations, which can make them available to you. In my observations, those cancellations can happen at any time, but they are most frequently observed the night before. Park reservations for Magic Key holders can be canceled up until 11:59 PM the night before the reservation. If you keep an eye on the Magic Key Access Calendar, you may be surprised to find a reservation that will work for you.

Now, let’s say you aren’t interested in upgrading to the highest pass, the Inspire Key Pass. But Enchant Key and Believe Key passes are not currently available for non-renewal upgrades. It would be great to find an available reservation to visit the parks now and start the magic of your pass. But if you don’t happen to snag a reservation on one of the handful of dates the Imagine Key isn’t blocked before summer, you may actually be in an OK position to wait until August when reservations become available again for the Imagine Key. That is because your 12 months of validity don’t begin until the first time you activate your pass at the Disneyland Resort. So if you wait until August to visit the theme parks, you can effectively extend the expiration date of your pass until August of next year. Just remember to book your park reservations as early as possible: up to 90 days in advance. Also, a Magic Key pass must be activated within 12 months of the original purchase date or the beginning of a monthly payment plan.

I hope that gives you some ideas about how you can make the most of your Magic Key pass, Eduardo. And don’t forget to follow the official Disneyland Resort Magic Key accounts on your favorite social media platforms.

    Have a magical time!
    ~Tony
