I bought tickets through a 3rd Party & didn't realize names are assigned to them. I added them to my app but didn't match the names to the tickets. Will this be a problem when we get to the gate

    Welcome, Jessica!

Thanks for reaching out to us – you’ve come to the right place for getting your plans together for an upcoming special adventure to the Walt Disney World Resort. Visiting in January will be a wonderful thing to look forward to in the new year, and a perfect winter escape from Wisconsin! I’m happy to help you get organized with your digital tools and tickets for this vacation.

No worries about your third-party purchase; there are many valid ways to purchase Walt Disney World Resort theme park tickets separate from making resort plans as a package on the official Walt Disney World website. I often have to link my tickets independently as we purchase ours at a military base and use our Disney Vacation Club points for many Disney Resorts Collection hotel stays. There are as many ways to personalize a Disney vacation as there are families visiting, so connecting these tickets to your My Disney Experience account was the smart first step.

Please be sure to add everyone in your travel party to your Friends and Family list in My Disney Experience. Not everyone needs a Disney account, especially if they are a child or you will be the primary person to manage their plans once on site. Each ticket must be assigned to an individual for security of the valuable ticket and for seamless entry into the theme parks, though. Please see an answer I gave another Guest explaining the use of an individual’s finger scan to associate it with a ticket as a “Ticket Tag.” Having everyone in your travel party listed will also be required if you purchase Disney Genie+ or any Individual Lightning Lane entries to maximize your time in the parks.

Once you have everyone set up in My Disney Experience as Friends and Family, you can navigate to each ticket and select “reassign” and choose a person for each ticket. You can do this on the Walt Disney World website under My Disney Experience > My Plans and selecting Tickets. You may also do so on the My Disney Experience App by selecting the "hamburger button" (≡) and then the Tickets and Passes tile. At the top where you see tickets listed, select the desired ticket and click “Reassign.”

If other adults in your travel party may be on point to help you with Mobile Food and Beverage Orders or Disney Genie+ selections, it’s a good idea for them to have their own Disney account and install My Disney Experience on their own device too. Becoming familiar with the features of this app before you arrive will help everything go smoother and remove some of the mental burden from you in being the sole user of the digital tools while on vacation. Every family is different, so you will know best if this would be helpful. If not, the others don’t need an account but must still be listed in your Family and Friends for assigning tickets to.

I hope this helps you feel more organized before arriving to the theme parks for a smooth entry, Jessica. Your wonderful vacation is just around the corner so please let us know if there’s anything else we can help with for you to make the most of this trip!

    Wishing you a magical vacation,
