Hi Audrey! Thanks for visiting planDisney.
Upgrading your fantastic
California Residents ticket offer to a shiny new Magic Key by paying the difference sounds like a brilliant plan, which should allow you to experience more magic in the parks, special perks, and great discounts. While I can't take advantage of the local discount, I love my Magic Key dining
discount. I'll be celebrating my birthday at Carthay Circle Restaurant on Buena Vista Street in Disney California Adventure Park on our upcoming visit, and that dining discount will increase the value of our experience at that iconic location. How do you plan on celebrating your new level of access to the parks?
If your plan is to
upgrade, you must do so before midnight on the last day of your visit. Just be sure you've done your research on your
Magic Key. You want to be sure you're selecting the right one for your needs since Magic Keys aren't refundable or transferable. Check the current
Terms & Conditions of purchase, as well as those important details like
blockout dates. Details are subject to change.
Upgrades on eligible tickets can be completed on the
Disneyland mobile app. While that's super convenient, you might also visit the Guest Services window to the left of the Disneyland Park entrance since your friend's ticket is currently under your account as the purchaser. They might be able to transfer ownership and possibly handle the upgrade all at once.
Otherwise, you'll need to call the
Magic Key Holders phone line to speak with a friendly Cast Member if you want ownership to be transferred. They'll assist in any way they possibly can. You're thinking ahead, and that's great, because having that Magic Key transferred to her account will be helpful when it's time to make payments or renew. Just be aware that Magic Keys can't be transferred to a different owner, as noted.
I hope this helps!
Elizabeth
