Hi Michael, welcome to planDisney!
Your Walt Disney World Resort vacation is coming together nicely. I'm glad to hear you have
tickets. Be sure to also make a
theme park reservation using the Disney Park Pass system for each park day. A glance at the
Theme Park Reservation Availability Calendar shows April dates are filling up and I want to make sure Mickey knows you're coming.
Disney Genie+ service gives Guests access to
Lightning Lane entrances at over 40 attractions throughout the four theme parks. Depending on your ticket type, you may be able to add Genie+ in advance for the duration of your ticket. To see if this is an option online, access the
My Plans page of your My Disney Experience account. Scroll down and select the "Tickets and Memory Maker" tab. If you see "Change Ticket" next to your tickets, click that to select the tickets you wish to modify and add Genie+. If you don't see the "Change Ticket" option, hakuna matata, onto plan B.
For Plan B, you can purchase Genie+ the morning of each park day beginning at 12:00 a.m. Regardless of when or how you purchase Genie+, everyone can book their first Lightning Lane selection at 7:00 a.m. so there's really no need to stay up until midnight. I recommend making the purchase by 6:45 a.m. so you're ready to book your first Lightning Lane selection at 7:00 a.m. on the dot. To book Genie+ in the My Disney Experience mobile app, click the three small lines at the bottom right of the home screen and click "My Genie Day." Scroll down to the purple banner and click "Get Genie+ Service for Today." You'll be able to purchase for everyone in your party as long as you're connected as
Family and Friends.
To book a Lightning Lane attraction in the My Disney Experience app, access your Tip Board (three small lines --> Tip Board) and scroll to your desired attraction. Click the button that says
Book Experience along with
LL Disney Genie+ and the next available arrival time. You can book for everyone in your party at once, as long as you're connected as Family and Friends. That's a common theme, isn't it?
I typically recommend Genie+ for full park days where the goal is to experience as many attractions as possible, especially at Magic Kingdom park and Disney's Hollywood Studios. You may find a Genie+ purchase does not make the most sense on your EPCOT day if you plan on spending a lot of time strolling around World Showcase and enjoying the sights, sounds, and tastes of the
EPCOT International Flower and Garden Festival.
I hope Genie+ grants at least three of your Disney wishes each park day, Michael. If you need further assistance once you're in the parks, be sure to visit a member of the Guest Experience Team, conveniently located throughout the theme parks under big, blue umbrellas.
Plan magic; planDisney.
