Hey there, Kirk, and welcome to planDisney! I’m sorry to hear that your family will not be able to go on your vacation right now. Thankfully, Walt Disney World is very understanding of the fact that plans often change unexpectedly and has pretty flexible ticket policies! I love you are considering allowing a friend to use those tickets. I would be happy to help you get that figured out!
I have some good news for you, Kirk!
Tickets that haven’t been used can be transferred and reassigned to another person on your
Disney Family & Friends List. This means that you’ve already met all the requirements (i.e. you haven't used the tickets yet)! If you and your friend aren’t already linked, you can easily do so once both of you have created a
My Disney Experience Account. Once successfully linked, you can visit the Reservations section of your My Disney Experience Account, locate the ticket you wish to reassign, and select the “Reassign Ticket” option. Keep in mind that once tickets are used, they can no longer be reassigned.
Once the tickets are reassigned to your friend’s name, she should be able to edit the tickets for her trip dates and add the park hopper option. All of this can be done through her My Disney Experience account as well. But if she runs into any issues, she can reach out to the
Existing Tickets Team for further assistance. Keep in mind that if the new ticket dates are more expensive than the original dates, the difference is required to be paid in full to complete the modification. Don’t forget to cancel your Disney Park Pass Reservations! They are not automatically canceled when you alter your theme park tickets. And be sure that your friend secures her Theme Park Reservations as soon as possible after finalizing her ticket changes.
I hope this helps, Kirk! If you have more questions while planning your vacation,
stop back by and let me know!
You’ve got a friend in me,
PG
