I bought 3 MagicBand+ for disneyland. Using phone app I assigned 2 of 3 to our tickets but when I try to assign my son's to his ticket I get an error. The page to assign doesn't show his name only last 4 digits of ticket ID, is that the issue?

    Hi there, Tracy,

I’m sorry to hear you have had trouble with your new MagicBand+ wristbands. I had a little trouble with one of our bands on our most recent trip as well. Hopefully, some of the things I learned can help you as well.

The Disneyland Resort website has a few helpful pages for handling MagicBand+ technical issues. Your issue sounds a bit more than something basic needed for the initial MagicBand+ setup. And it also seems to be different than an issue with the MagicBand+ not working. (Though I do recommend remembering that information in case you ever need to reset and/or factory reset your band. That is exactly what I needed during our last visit to make sure the interactive features of my MagicBand+ were working.)

While it is hard to say for sure, I do wonder if you may be on to something by noticing that your son’s ticket does not display his name on the MagicBand+ ticket assignment screen. It may be worth checking the “Tickets and Passes” screen of the Disneyland mobile app as well to make sure things look as expected. Issues with Guest names associated with theme park tickets may usually be resolved by calling a Cast Member with the Tickets phone line or initiating a chat with Cast Member in the mobile app by tapping the “Chat with Us” tile from the ☰ feature menu.

MagicBand+ ticket associations are not permanent with the Disneyland mobile app. So you may also wish to experiment with trying to assign one of your other MagicBand+ bands to your son’s ticket. If none of the other bands associate with his ticket, you may have even more evidence that the issue is something unexpected with his Disney eTickets rather than the MagicBand+. Again, reaching out to a Cast Member via phone or chat is likely the best way to resolve such issues.

I hope that happens to help you get things sorted out with your MagicBand+ devices, Tracy. It’s really fun to engage with the Disneyland Resort theme parks in a whole new way using MagicBand+. The special interactivity with nighttime spectaculars and special surprises on attractions such as Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT! and Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters are some of my favorites. And Star Wars: Batuu Bounty Hunters immerses you in the story of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at a whole new level.

May the Force be with you as you work to set up your MagicBand+, Tracy!
