I just bought a magic key today! I want to use it on my birthday, September 2nd! If I go to Disneyland on September 2, 2025 what is the last day I can use it? September 1st or 2nd in 2026?

Hey there, hi there, Trevor! Welcome to planDisney. We love getting to help Guests get all their planning questions answered!

Welcome to the Magic Key family! As a Magic Key holder myself, I am excited to hear you are about to have a whole year of magic ahead. Activating your Magic Key on your birthday sounds like a great way to kick off your big day. If you activate your Magic Key by visiting the parks on September 2, 2025, the Magic Key will expire on September 1, 2026. That's a whole year of visits! When you reach the 30-day window before the expiration date of your Magic Key, you will be able to renew your Magic Key.

If you haven't already, I highly recommend you check out the Magic Key Portal in the Disneyland app. This is where you can find all of the standard information, like the availability calendar, discounts, and even some extras. I always check this before I head into the parks to see if there's any special discounts, food items, or events just for Magic Key holders. My other recommendation is to make it a priority to make a reservation at the Magic Key Terrace during one of your visits. It's a lovely place to take a mid-afternoon or evening break from the parks with some yummy bites and drinks.

Trevor, thanks so much for stopping by! Welcome again to the family!

Meet the Panelist: Carrie, California

Well hello there, friend! I'm Carrie, a work-from-home mom and military wife who currently calls sunny San Diego home. You'll find my family in the parks braving drops and coasters to work up our appetite to take as many snack breaks as we can. While Disneyland is our home away from home, we love trying to make a Walt Disney World Resort vacation happen at least once a year now too. All my friends know I'm the go-to for Disney advice, so I'm here to help you plan and experience the magic on your visit! Learn More About Carrie
