We bought our Magic Bands+ from Shop Disney website - how do we activate it so it’s linked to our booked DCL account for next month? Also, if kids have the bands - they don’t need the bands provided at Kids’ Club, correct? Thank you :)

Ahoy there Diane, and welcome back aboard planDisney!

It seems like it's been quite some time since those toddlers that you first took to Walt Disney World Resort have grown into young sailors! It's always good to embark on any journey well-prepared, so you'll be happy to hear that each of the MagicBand+ purchases that you've made online ahead of your trip will be able to be used as what is known onboard as a Disneyband+.

It's important to remember that this is still currently a newer bit of technology to slowly spread across the fleet, and I spoke with a Disney Cruise Line Cast Member who let me know that it is currently undergoing implementation as of the time of this writing and should be available on select voyages on board the Disney Magic by the time of your cruise. (Since offerings are always subject to change without prior notice on board, it's important to remember that these can never be guaranteed and you may be required to rely on your Key To the World card primarily throughout your voyage.)

Once these worldly wearables have been completely implemented on board the Disney Magic, they should be compatible to be used in place of the Oceaneer Bands typically distributed among those children registered and signed into secure programming in the onboard Youth Spaces like Disney's Oceaneer Club and Disney's Oceaneer Lab. Be prepared in the event that the kids may need to ensure that their bands are charged or if they are given Oceaneer Bands in the event that their batteries have run out. (Nevertheless, Oceaneer bands need to be returned by the end of the voyage whereas their own DisneyBand+ or MagicBand+ do not.)

These are the official posted steps in order to link these to your account in advance:

    1. Sign in to your Disney account.
    2. Visit My Reservations and make sure your stateroom and all Guests are connected.
    3. Navigate to the "Already Booked" tab on the main menu and go to "DisneyBand+ and More."
    4. Validate that your bands show up in your account. If they display, you are all set. If they don't display, move on to step 5.
    5. Select “Link” and follow the prompts.
Don't hesitate to inquire at the Guest Services Desk on board if you need any additional assistance making sure they work during your cruise; we're also always here at planDisney for any more answers and advice as we look forward to seeing new ways for fellow seafaring folks to engage with this new technology across the fleet!
