Well hello there Beverly and welcome back to planDisney!
Being able to extend the magic on a
Land and Sea vacation is such a great way to get the best of both worlds and act as a nice transition from being out on the ocean - I like it call it our "bonus vacation from the vacation"! We recently just stepped off the Disney Wish yesterday to
continue our journey here at Walt Disney World Resort so I'm happy to lend my personal experience and knowledge to you regarding how it all worked out for us as well as the steps I took:
-
If you've purchased a DisneyBand+ to be shipped to your address ahead of your upcoming cruise vacation, make sure that they're linked to each person on your reservation by accessing DisneyBand+ and More after logging in on the Disney Cruise Line website.
-
Check each of your bands to confirm whether they're already linked, or follow the easy guide video online to get them set up just in case they aren't. (Make sure that they've fully charged and that you have consistent internet access as you may need to download an update like we did!)
-
On the Disney Cruise Line Navigator App I was able to manage our active bands directly, but I also observed that the Guest Services desk was assisting a number of guests with theirs in case they weren't able to figure it out.
-
After debarking from the voyage, the Cast Member at the front desk of our Walt Disney World Resort hotel confirmed whether we'd like to continue using my DisneyBand+ or MagicBand+ during our stay, and we decided to use both!
Now it's important to remember the difference between bands bought specifically with your Disney Cruise Line reservation and the ones you may have purchased through My Disney Experience ahead of your Walt Disney World Resort stay:
DisneyBand+ is specifically used to refer to the ones sold through Disney Cruise Line while
MagicBand+ continues to be used on land in the Disney Destinations within the United States.
I did notice a family on board attempting to use an older MagicBand 2 from previous trips, but unfortunately only a MagicBand+ will have the same functionality across the ship the way a DisneyBand+ would. In my recent experience, I used the same MagicBand+ throughout Walt Disney World Resort and Disneyland Resort this month and it seamlessly continued to open my stateroom door on the Disney Wish and allowed me to access and enjoy some of the fun experiences in the
Oceaneer Club that required one to be placed at a touchpoint.
Hope this helps, Beverly - you're always welcome to
come back to planDisney with more questions ahead of your next Disney adventures!
Here's to your upcoming voyages by land and by sea!
