I bought the Magic 2 from Amazon and I was wondering if it works the same and the Magic band +? How do they work for the Disneyland trip?

Hi there, Jason! Welcome to planDisney, and thank you so much for stopping by with your question. I'm so happy to see you here!

Unfortunately, the original MagicBand (also known as MagicBand 2) does not work the same as the MagicBand+, which means that you won't be able to use it at the Disneyland Resort. MagicBands only work at the Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, so if you really want to use one during your vacation at the Happiest Place on Earth, you will need to purchase a MagicBand+ through shopDisney or directly at Disneyland.

Jason, I do want you to know that you don't need MagicBand+ devices in order for your trip to go smoothly. They are definitely cute accessories, but they aren't necessary by any means! You'll be able to enter the Theme Parks, redeem your Lightning Lane entrances, and scan your Disney PhotoPass pictures with your physical ticket or your Disney eTicket. Both of these options are complimentary, so you won't need to spend any extra money to get them.

Since you've already purchased a MagicBand, you could always plan a trip to the Walt Disney World Resort in the future! 2024 Vacation Packages are available for purchase through the website at this time, and they are extremely convenient. If you have any questions about planning a future trip to Anaheim or Orlando, please don't hesitate to reach back out to us, Jason. Remember that we're always available and more than happy to help!

    Warm hugs,
